watchmen-rorschach-med-posterTomorrow’s finally the big day. Halloween here at last. Always one of my favorite holidays, dressing up and pretending to be someone/something else.

Over the years, I’ve gone from Neo, to Willy Wonka, The Joker, and this year will be Rorschach from the Watchmen. I’m excited for it, but this costume is a bit constricting. There is absolutely no skin showing. Here’s hoping it’s a bit cooler tomorrow night ๐Ÿ™‚ Anyhow, I’m looking forward to the challenge of not being able to see well, and not being able to drink…. we’ll see how long that lasts.

Pictures should be fun ๐Ÿ˜€

and just for fun …

High Elf 2k.

October 30, 2009

Here’s what’s finished so far…

  • Prince on Dragon
  • Noble (bsb) with 5 Dragon Princes
  • Mage
  • 2 units of Lotheran Sea Guard
  • 14 White Lions
  • Lion Chariot
  • 1 bolt thrower

Just need to get the other bolt thrower finished up and we’ll be ready to roll.

…… I know the picture quality sucks, I’ll get a better one done when I have the last bolt thrower finished up.

Bringing it back

warhammertableStopped by Johnny Cees Cards today, noticed that Warhammer hasn’t been up on their calendar in the store for quite sometime now. So I decided to ask about it and it looks like they hired someone new to run warhammer tourneys there. I’m pretty hopeful this happens, it’d be nice to play more.

Daemons of ChaosSince I’m pretty much done with my 2k High Elves list, almost all painted and what not. Plus I can run a 3k army with my models, and about a 4k army with my Orcs and Goblins, I’m tossing around the idea of running a Daemons of Chaos army next. It’s always intrigued me, and now that they’ve separated Daemons from Mortals I think it’d be a fun time playing a mixed Daemon army. If I do, starting off I’d be looking at a 15 count unit of bloodletters, with a herald of Khorne leading them. A smaller unit of 10 Daemonettes of Slaanesh and about 5 furies. 30 Models to start off, which is crazy considering my High Elves only have 48 models in their 2k list

Waugh-paca: Army Building

October 28, 2009

Checked up the tourney rules yesterday and it looks like they’re running this event at 2k even. Usually we play 2150, so I needed to slim down my normal list just a bit. So the Silver Helms got the axe, cut from the list, and now riding the shelf. As it turns out, cutting the one unit that I still have left to paint, and the one unit that I’m usually not sure how to use was pretty awesome. With them in the army in addition to the Dragon Princes usually got me a bit confused playing, and they usually just ended up being sacrificed. Now, the next unit to make sure I know how to use, the Lion Chariot. It’s almost the same cost as the silver helms that are getting cut. It doesn’t move as fast, it doesn’t hit as hard, but it has better staying power in the second turn, it’s more manuverable and I’m hoping it can help break combats on my White Lions.

Other than that one cut, the army stays pretty much the same. I’m good with that, they’ve preformed well for me in the past, and I’l hopefully get a few more games played with before the tournament starts up.

Oh yeah, I do still need to get some painting done though. I have to finish one more repeating bolt thrower before the event, but with like 3 months to go, I don’t think that will be much of ย a challenge.

Super excited to finally, after like 15 years, to have a fully painted 2k army ready to roll.

Auto bots, roll out!

transformers2So I finally watched Transformers 2. I didn’t get a chance to see it in the theater, which kinda sucks, but I did get to play it on the 50″ in the studio today, and watch it with Kel last night. Pretty good movie, I like all the action, even more than last time, but I do have to say, that on the smaller screen it gets way too chaotic. You can’t really tell what’s happening, who’s who when it comes to the machines and sometimes even who’s hurting who. The bigger screen at the studio helped a lot, which makes me regret missing the theater action even more. Ahh well, I’ll have to make sure to see the 3rd that way.

While watching with Kelly she had a great observation, “What if you could take this movie back 30 years and show it then?” Wow, can you imagine seeing it that way, having never known CGI or even the concept of the transformers. Sure 30 years ago there was sci-fi, books, and movies/tv shows tried to capture it, but to see it done like this, wow, that would just be mind blowing.

Last thought on the movie. At first I really didn’t like all the little comic relief parts they threw in, but in thinking back to the cartoon, that was always there. By the end of the movie I was actually enjoying it, the ‘twins’ and the mini scrape bot that joined the auto bots and humped Makayla’s leg. A bit sexual for the cartoon, but still pretty funny. ย Over all, really liked it.

Looks like the sign up is up and ready. Waaagh-Paca weekend, January 30th and 31st. 5 game event and the winner gets… a 1/4 scale spear chukka.

Anyhow, the small group of guys we’ve got should get a club/clan name. I’m not really sure on what to call it, but…

  1. stupid heads
  2. lame riders
  3. kachow time
  4. W.A.R. – Wausau Area Ramblers
  5. shit town
  6. 3 wise men
  7. play more
  8. flying models

Well, those are my top choices, but I’m certainly interested in hearing other suggestions ๐Ÿ˜›
